2nd essay writing contest at Monol launched


Last year around September, Monol had its first essay writing contest at the academy. Students from General and Post ESL participated in this event and from the entries, nine were declared winners. To welcome and prepare for the new year, Monol once again launches an essay writing contest to showcase its students’ abilities and skills.

Here are the details everyone needs to know:

Who can join?

This competition is open to all students.

Topics to choose from:
  1. My New Year Resolutions
  2. My Most Memorable Christmas
  3. Lunar New Year: Its Celebration and Significance


Criteria for selection:

Content – 30%
Coherence and cohesion – 30%
Grammar – 15%
Vocabulary – 15%
Organization, style, and format– 10%
TOTAL: 100%


Dates you need to know:

Writing period: January 19-23
Submission of essays: January 26-30
Editing: February 2-3
Selection of winners: February 4-5
Awarding ceremony: February 9

Note: Post ESL students who are interested to join are advised to submit their essays to their head teachers. Intensive Speaking ESL students, on the other hand, are required to submit their essays to Teacher Agnes.
