The month of August is sprinkled with holidays as well as two long weekends to look forward to. For the awareness of everyone, there will be no classes on August 12, 2019 (Eid’l Adha), August 21, 2019 (Ninoy Aquino Day) and August 26, 2019 (National Heroes Day).

In this issue, there are 53 new students! They are from various places such as China, Taiwan, South Korean, Japan, and Vietnam. Six of them are from South Korea! Because of the diverse age range, I can have schoolmates that are between 5-50 years old! There really is no end to learning and you can learn regardless of age. I am very curious as to how the children learn.

With the arrival of new students, it was time for the 3+1 teachers and students to get to know each other. As an ice breaker for all the shy, still-adjusting newcomers, a little game night was scheduled for everyone to enjoy.

The Malacañang office declares July 15 (Monday) as a special non-working holiday in celebration of Cordillera Day. There will be no classes on the said day to give way to the Cordillera Administrative Region’s (CAR) 32nd Founding Anniversary.

Student Edith, who is from Taiwan, came to Monol to achieve her IELTS target score. She originally aimed for a target score of 6.5 but ended up reaching an IELTS score of 7 in her five weeks. She considers this her greatest achievement in Monol.

Most of the time, students enjoy the meals cooked in Monol but if you want to explore and hang-out with friends on the weekends, you can choose to eat outside of the school. This is also a great way to relieve stress since you’re working hard studying English in a foreign country.
