Weekend trip during the cool season. These past few days, the temperature here in Baguio has dropped to 12 °C. As expected, the temperature will drop more in the coming days. With that, Monol students wear thick clothes to keep them warm while they study English in the coldest city in the Philippines. After their classes, they enjoy the cold breeze of Baguio on Monol’s roof deck. This where the skies could either be clear or mysteriously foggy. It is undeniable that Monol’s location is ideal and charming. With the mountain view on one side and the city landscape on the other, breathing some fresh air becomes more enjoyable.
Weekend Trip is the key to beat the cold!
Baguio is known for its cool and mild climate. This is why it is definitely different from other ESL hubspots like Clark and Cebu. With the chilly weather, Monol felt that it was time to book another weekend trip to beat the cold.
Eight students, along with two Monol student leaders and one tourist guide, traveled to Tangadan Falls on December 24, 2022. The students enjoyed an hour of trekking to reach their destination. The weather was cooler than expected, but still, the students enjoyed the hotter weather during their weekend trip. When they reached the falls, their excitement could not be contained as they swam and enjoyed the water of Tangadan Falls. Finally, when it was time to return to Monol, it was obvious how much they enjoyed their little getaway. Halfway through their trek back to town, they decided to ride the jeepney to get some rest.
Here are some photos taken from their weekend trip:
To sum everything up, students can enjoy and have some fun while learning English in Monol. Our tagline, “Live and Learn,” is an honest goal of Monol to make sure that students also learn English beyond the school walls. Interacting with other students and locals alike can help students test their English skills and be more confident in using it during conversations. With the new year coming up fast, you may wonder, “Where are we going next?”
